Week 4 - Project 365

Ok, so this week I did good at keeping track of what pictures I took on what day. But now, I am taking way too many pictures a day. I really wanted to do this project so I would pick up my camera some more, but now it's getting out of control. I feel like a "paparazzi mom". But it's fun and now my kids actually say "Cheese" when I get the camera out, instead of running away or needing some kind of bribe. My girls spend a lot of time at the kitchen table painting/coloring/doing projects/eating...so I tried not to take as many pictures of the kitchen table this week, but I still got a few. Maybe next week I can branch away from the table to other things. Ok, here goes...

Monday - The girls helping me make cupcakes. They love to sit on the counter and help me cook.

Tuesday - David getting some fresh air while still doing work. The weather was nice and he needed to get out of his "office"

Wednesday - I found the girls in the bathroom playing "haircut". That's what they call it, but don't worry, they don't actually cut hair. They just spray a lot of water on the hair and brush it. Carmen even attempted to put some clips in Aliza's hair.

They were painting this day, but the picture really is of Carmen's hair. First, it was a miracle she let me put it in a pony tail and than I was surprised at how long the pony tail was! She really wants her hair to grow long.

Thursday - David playing stake men's basketball

This was after their team won. I won't mention they had all these players against a team of four....GO CHESTER WARD!!!

Friday - GOALS - At joy school the kids have been learning about setting and achieving goals. Carmen has been practicing writing her name

And I have been practicing bread making. This day it turned out the best ever, still not perfect, but edible. I didn't take a picture, but I also made some strawberry jam. YUM!

Saturday - It seems my girls are finally becoming friends and playing better together. This day they played all day together without any fighting. It was a miracle! They entertained each other and I got a lot done in the meantime.

And I just LOVE Aliza's expression in this pictures. It cracks me up everytime I look at it. This is her normal attitude towards Carmen touching her.

Sunday - The girls got new dresses. After they tried them on to see if they fit, they HAD to put some makeup on

Girls Weekend Away

For Christmas, David and some other great husbands, got myself and some girlfriends a girls weekend away to Vegas. So, this past weekend we headed to the airport and flew to Vegas for three days of relaxation, no kids and tons of food and shopping. It was SO WONDERFUL. We did have to wake up very early two of the days to catch our flights there and back, so we really only got one day of sleeping in, but it was nice.

Once we arrived and found our hotel, we headed out for some food. We ate at a buffet at the Bellagio Hotel and the choices were endless! My favorite was the endless desserts!! Then we picked up tickets to see the Cirque Du Soleil "O" show that our husbands had gotten for us. The show was amazing and we all would highly recommend anyone to see it!! Then we headed back to the hotel to sleep because we were exhausted. Getting ready to leave your kids with your husband for three days and packing and then catching a very early flight put a toll on all of us.

The next morning we slept in - 8:30! WOHOO! We took our time getting ready for the day and ended up having more of lunch than breakfast that morning. After we ate we headed to the spa for mani/pedi's. We all decided to get acrylic nails, which are fun to have, but I won't do it again. It's a little extravagant for me and I don't really feel like myself. Plus, it's taken me twice as long to type this post with the long nails because I keep hitting all the wrong keys.

After the spa we walked the Vegas Strip and did some shopping at the M&M store. Then we decided we were more Target/Walmart shoppers than "Vegas Strip" shoppers. So, we headed out to some more ruals areas of Vegas to do more shopping. And of course, our trip wasn't complete until we had eaten at Cafe Rio! YUMMO! I love that place.

That night we hit the hot tub and then packed to come home. We were having such a great time that we actually called the airline to see if we could change our tickets! It would of cost too much, so we were up early the next morning and on our way home.

We had such a great time, and kept thinking how we would ever top something like that for our husbands. They really are great guys! The whole weekend was full of laughs and good company. Next time, we hope to include more of our friends for even more fun.

Week 3 - Project 365

I am making a vow to keep a journal of my pictures so I remember what day I took them. I know I have not missed a day yet, but I can't remember what I took on what day. This wasn't a terribly exciting week for pictures. The weather was nice, so we play outside some. I also had my Girls Weekend Away, but I want to do that as a seperate post. So, here's for our exciting week 3 of 2009!
Monday - The girls love looking at the blog and seeing the pictures of themselves!

Tuesday - Carmen was helping me dry the dishes and put them away.

Wednesday - Aliza enjoying some Oreo cookies dipped in milk

Aliza and Daddy eating cookies together. David wanted to know why he wasn't in any of the pictures. So, I will do better including him!

Thursday - David stepped on my Shark vacuum (THAT I LOVE!!) and it broke. :( But I was ready for a new one, it was 3 years old and getting kind of gross. ALSO, my counter tops were totally clean this day!

The girls playing outside in the warm weather. It was such a beautiful day. Carmen wanted to push Aliza in this stroller, she seemed happy to be pushed around. :)

The girls have this little trick of putting Cheeseit crackers between their teeth. They think it is SO funny!

This picture was taken this week, but this was David project over the holidays. He painted the girls room pink and put up chair rail. I am so proud of him and doing such a big project. He really did a great job and the girls love it. Now, I just need to put the finishing touches on the room and it will be done.

This is the infamous RASH that is going around. I don't know what it is. Some have referred to it as "Slap Cheek" or 5th disease. Aliza has had it the worst out of everyone I've seen. I think we'll be calling the doctor AGAIN about it. The picture does it no justice, it looks worse in person.

Week 2 - Project 365

So, these are all kind of out of order, but Blogger makes it hard to get your pictures in the right order. And once again, it is hard to narrow it down to just 7 - prepare for picture overload. At least that's my favorite part of blogs, is the pictures, so I hope you enjoy them!

Saturday - Aliza painting a fire truck she got at the "project store" AKA Michaels

Saturday - Carmen painting an airplane she got at the "project store" (that's what the girls call it)

Friday - Aliza enjoying some warm weather at the park

Friday - Carmen at Wicklund park

Thursday - Carmen helped me organize my pantry with my new "Cansolidators" I picked up at Costco. They are great for rotating your food storage, but do take up a bit more space on the shelf. But now I can see what I have and how much of it. It's still a project in the works. She wanted to make the Sunbeam face for the picture.

Tuesday - Aliza enjoying some play time while Carmen is at school. She puts on the glasses and says "COOL DUDE!"

Monday - Carmen sitting at the kitchen table painting her nails - so lady like (I cropped out the "crotch shot") :D

Wednesday - Carmen with her good friend Sariah, they fight like sisters, but sure do love each other

I'm not sure what day this was, but we went to get ice cream at our favorite place, Foster's. Aliza was loving it!

Snow Day

We traveled to Tahoe to play in the snow this past weekend. The girls were beyond excited to go! Once we got there and got all bundled up, Carmen slipped on the ice immediately. After that she was DONE! She wanted nothing to do with the snow. She fell down multiple times as we tried convincing her it would be fun. She refused to go on the sled and Aliza was scared because Carmen was so worked up. The entire time Carmen screamed "put me back in the car!!!! I want to go home!!!!". The entire time being.... TEN MINUTES! That's all we could manage to get them to play in the snow. So, we got some hot chocolate and then drove the 2 1/2 hours back home! It was ridiculous, but funny. So, the last picture captures why Carmen hated it so much, she is slipping on the ice. The rest are taken as we are sitting trying to convince them that it really will be fun. Carmen was in tears in all the pictures. Aliza could just barely move, she had on so many layers of clothes.

Week One of Project 365

So, my goal to take one picture a day has been fun, but I can tell already how it's going to get more challenging. I do plan on posting them all on my blog - most likely weekly. The ultimate goal would be to scrapbook them all, but I'm not committing to that! I did manage to take two weeks worth of pictures in four days, so narrowing them down will be another hard part of this project.

So here goes the first week, which is only since Thursday:
I've already posted this one. David and I got to see Phantom of the Opera at the Orphium Theater in San Fransisco.

This is Carmen and her cousin Kayiah making cupcakes with the cupcake maker Grandma got her for Christmas.

So technically I didn't take this picture, but just the same...Saturday we ventured out into the snow. It was a long drive and then Carmen hated every second of it!

And this is Carmen's first day of SUNBEAMS!!! This means she is no longer in the nursery at church, she's a big girl now! The 3/4 yr old class is called sunbeams.

Phantom of the Opera

For Christmas David's mom got us tickets to see Phantom of the Opera. So for New Years Day we dressed up and rode the BART into San Fransisco with his sister Rebecca and her husband Jeremy. We had never seen it before and were very excited to go. It was such a great show and we really had a fun time. Thanks Sandy for the tickets and for watching the girls!!! (and yes, I am very preganat and had a hard time sitting through the whole show)
