More of March

Dallin's first time on the big swings! He loved it.

One night we had friends over for game night and played Ticket to Ride. Well, Dallin has discovered the "train game" on the table and loves to play it too when no one is looking.

Aliza and I went on a much needed date. We ran an errand together, then got milkshakes and headed to Barnes and Noble to find some new books. She was having a pretty grumpy day, but during our date she was all smiles and very talkative. It's so important to take time to spend one on one with my kiddos. I love them so much!
 Dallin found David's headphones.
Aliza and Carmen took a six week Spanish class. On the last day they made churros. They were the only ones in the class, so it was a lot of fun for them.

When we got this train table for Dallin, I'm not sure this is how we intended it to be used....

Aliza's 1st grade class put on Kid Town and invited all the parents to come buy and shop from them. It was a lot of fun to see the things Aliza has been working on and learning in 1st grade.

March

They were so happy when daddy got home from church!

Charlotte traded in her old blanket for a new one from Great Grandma Teerlink. Grandma would only give her a new one if she traded in her old one. Charlotte was pretty excited about the new blanket, but is still sad that she doesn't have her old blanket that she's had since birth. I thought it was pretty unfair that we didn't get to keep it for her memory box, but it was Charlotte's decision.

 Dallin is so silly!

Charlotte made this rainbow for St. Patrick's Day.

Hauling snow in the dump truck. It was mostly melted and gone this day.

Carmen competed in Destination Imagination this year. I didn't realize what a big deal this was until we went to the competition. WOWZA! They all take this stuff seriously. I think she really had a good time and will hopefully continue to do it every year.

Frozen Dinner

Our family is in love with the new Disney movie Frozen! So much so that we couldn't wait for the DVD to became available to buy. The first day that it became available was like snow day #101, or so it felt like.... So, the NEXT day I bought it. Then in an effort to make movie night more exciting, I decided to have a FROZEN DINNER night. This was all thrown together rather quickly, thank goodness for free online printables!

Snow Balls for the movie and the menu for dinner

For drink we had "Summer Time Olaf"

I think everyone really enjoyed it and we had a fun night watching Frozen and singing all the songs.

Winter

It has been a very very long winter here in Virginia. The kids missed a total of 14 days of school due to bad weather. We tried to make the most of it and have as much fun as possible. But honestly, when it was still snowing in March, my kids never even asked to go play out in the snow. They are ready for Spring! Thank goodness we had a SNOW DAY KIT from Oma to help keep us entertained.

 We did crafts....
 We built snowmen...
We baked and had friends over....

 We built snow caves
I did a lot of laundry

It got very deep! Up to our knees. Poor Charlotte and Dallin could barely walk.
 We did some sledding
During one storm we got 17 inches of snow!
Spring was trying to "spring".
And finally we were dreaming of Summer and decided to head to the indoor pool. It was a nice break from all the cold.

Finally FIVE!!!

Charlotte was beyond excited for her birthday this year. Turning five is a pretty big deal! But Charlotte is always quick to show excitement in all things. This girl just loves life. Always smiling, always happy. She loves preschool and loves to play with friends. She is quick to make friends wherever she goes. She will talk your ear off all day long. She is a great big sister to Dallin and just adores her big sisters. And she will make you laugh all day long with her silliness.
 Presents from Oma and Poppy
 Headed off to preschool
Her birthday crown from Mrs. James
A phone call from Grandma Bean
 Dinner at Red Robin
 Tie Dye birthday cake
And playing Candy Land with mommy. (Now we just need to get her into Kindergarten!)
