Time never slows down. As the kids get older, we just get busier and busier. It's kind of fun, but I sure have learned to appreciate the days that we don't have to be anywhere.
Both Carmen and Charlotte got to preform at Art Fest in the West. Carmen as part of the Henley Jazz Band and Charlotte as part of the Meriwether Ukulele Ensemble. It was a fun night of all types of music.
Charlotte also sang in a little trio for her 4th grade concert. I love seeing my kids enjoy the arts.
Carmen was also selected to be in the All Country District Band with a guest director.
Dallin... just loves bowling. This is one of those activities that never sound that fun, and we always spend an arm and a leg on snacks and drink, but it's always fun in the end! And if it weren't for those bumpers I'm sure I'd be in last place every time.
Aliza has been super busy with cheer. This season for competitions she had to have her hair curled. So we spent a lot of time practicing this to get it just right. This was my first attempt.
We got the girls all little survival kits for their first competition of the season. This team is small, but powerful! They all go to the same school except for Aliza, which I think was sometimes hard for her. But she always makes the most of every situation.
The second attempt at the curls was much better. Tight and bouncy!
Their first comp was in Richmond.
Team Jade ready to rock the mat!!
And they won 1st place!! They got gold medals and championship rings.
On to other fun things... we made Valentine Houses this year. The Christmas season turned out to be pretty chaotic and with Oma's knee replacement and Lanes leukemia diagnosis. So the gingerbread houses got put on the back burner....until now! It was kind of fun to use Valentine candy instead the traditional Christmas candy. And of course, it's always fun when Oma and Poppy come over.
Lane is starting to lose his hair from his chemo treatments and wanted to color the last bit green before it is all gone.
And since I got so much practice curling Aliza's hair, Charlotte finally let me do hers for church. It was so beautiful.
For mutual one night the youth all met at JUMP and and had a huge dodgeball game. We had such a large and awesome group of youth in our ward.
Carmen started playing volleyball for Crozet Volleyball club this season. Her first tournament was in Bridgewater. This is probably my most favorite sport to watch. Well..it might tie with Aliza's cheer, because that's super fun too. But whether it be a cheer competition for a volleyball tournament, they both make for very long days!
And after painting Carmen's room, I started on Dallin's. He could not wait another minute to get rid of the fairies and castle on the wall, courtesy of the previous owners. After doing Carmen's room though, I was feeling a little burnt out and unmotivated to start another project. I got this far on the room and realized it was too late to change my mind and had to keep going.
He wanted the same stripes he had in his room at our old house, but this time he wanted UVA colors, instead of the red. It was a painstaking process to make sure all those lines stayed level and so many coats of paints to cover up that green, But I do really love how it turned out!
