March 2019

This was such a busy month that I'm going to break it down by family member. We'll start with Carmen first:
She had several volleyball tournaments this month. Here her team is passing time until they take the court.  This was a two day tournament which we didn't stay for because she chose not to play on Sundays. Her team went on to win first place in their bracket!

 Diving for the ball!

She made some really great blocks! The action is so fast in volleyball that it's really hard to photograph.

And we went out to lunch between matches this day.

I often find pictures like these on my phone of Carmen with her friends. She's got some really great ones.

Aliza battled it out at the capitol with her Fame Friends. This is the biggest cheer comp that we've been too and it's seriously fun and seriously a bit comical. I can never get over how into everything the parents get. They are all legit cheer moms and it can be out of control sometimes. Maybe Aliza wishes I was more like that... but I'm not. I'm happy to cheer as loud as I can when she's on the mat, and do make up and hair. I may even sport a "Cheer Mom" shirt sometimes.

The National Harbor is a fun place to explore, so we're always happy to tag along to her comps and do a little sight seeing.

Yes, David did ride the bull and yes, it was hysterical! I think the girls were mortified.

And Aliza worked hard to get homework done in the hotel room the night before her comp.

I saw this t-shirt at the Peeps store in the National Harbor and really loved it's message.

Aliza also went on a youth temple trip up to Philly and afterwards they walked down to the "Rocky Steps". It looks like it was a chilly day. I think I was at a volleyball tournament this day.

Charlotte played soccer again this Spring and is really starting to love playing goalie. And she's pretty great at it too!

She also celebrated her Golden Birthday - turning 10 on the 10th. YAY!

She opted to have a "Late Over" with her friends a few days before her real birthday.  They decorated pillow cases, and seriously impressed me with some of their designs.

Then they loaded up on pizza and sugar and snuggled in to watch the new Mary Poppins.

On her actual birthday she requested Oreo Lasagna for her cake, which no one complained about!

And David and I visited her during lunch at school.

Dallin also celebrated his birthday this month by turning 7!  He loves having David volunteer in his class in whatever capacity he can. This was Read Across America day and they got to read books together.

This kid LOVES his birthday. He starts counting down from right after Christmas.

David and I brought Duck Donuts to share with his classmates.

And he requested an Oreo Ice Cream cake as his treat this year.

While we were at Aliza's cheer comp at the National Harbor, we stumbled upon this Hot Sauce store that had a tasting bar. Dallin was super excited to try it out. They started in order from mildest to hottest. And he tried them all, about 100 of them. Even the hottest one that you can try without signing a waver - the Ghost Pepper. And he loved it! He take after me and loves spicy things.

One day his Kindergarten teacher, Ms. Franco stopped by our house to pick up some cookie dough she had bought. She drives the best blue convertible car and she let Dallin sit behind the wheel! He thought it was the coolest thing ever.

And I just love these next two pictures showing Dallin playing with is Legos. He has just gotten into them and loves to play in his room.  Ninjago are his Legos of choice right now.

David coached Dallin's soccer team again this Spring season and he showed a lot growth in his skills.

We took the kids to the drive in movie for the first time to see the Advengers Captain Marvel. It was freezing!!!!! And we could barely hear the sound. But we learned from the experience and will be more prepared for next time.

David and I also celebrated our 15th wedding anniversary. He made this beautiful family dinner for us to enjoy with the kids.

We were able to escape later in the month to NYC for a quick weekend away. We visited the Manhattan Temple and saw the sights. And then went to see Dear Evan Hansen on Broadway. It was so good and shared such a great message about teens, social media and suicide.

We did the Hop on Hop off bus tour where we got to sit on the top of the bus. I've always wanted to do that!

And we took an insanely long boat ride to see the Statue of Liberty. I'm pretty sure we were scammed, and I was ticked off about it.  But like the drive in, lessons were learned and we'll know better next time. We still enjoyed each other's company and really needed this little break. We both are SO busy planning YW camp and TREK that we hardly have free time for dates these days.

Other March happenings: I LOVE flowers and I needed some Spring happiness in my kitchen.

We also re-surfaced our driveway and enlarged it as well. It was really fun to watch the big machines doing all the work.

Once the driveway was done, we put up our new basketball hoop and and the neighborhood came over to play on this warm spring day.
