July 2023

We didn't have a lot of time for a family vacation this summer between everyone's work schedules and summer camps. We did escape for a few days for the 4th of July. We went to a cute resort in Wisconsin where we swam in the pool, rented a boat for the day and Carmen and Aliza got a day at the spa getting massages and private pool access. Unfortunately you had to be 16 for the spa, but Charlotte was able to get a nice pedicure and then spent the day with the boys.

The water was very choppy this day and made for not such a fun boat ride when going fast. But it was Dallin's first time going tubing and he was a huge fan!

Big news for Aliza! She finally had enough hours of practice that she could go take her drivers test and she passed!! I'm so happy to have another driver in the house. But now Carmen and Aliza have to work out sharing a car for the summer.

Downtown Kalamazoo has a fun ice cream shop with those great monster shakes that we had to check out. We made an afternoon of checking out the downtown mall of Kalamazoo (not nearly as cool at the Charlottesville Downtown Mall), but the locals here think it's the best thing. The shakes were worth the trip.

I've been working on building a workbench for the pole barn so we've got a better place to build things. This miter saw table was a lot of fun for me to make. It's not perfect but I learned a lot in the process. Hopefully bigger projects come soon.

Our friends the Charles' were passing through Michigan and stopped at our house for a quick lunch and visit. It's always great to see friends from Charlottesville.  Their four boys match up perfectly to our four kids in ages.
