September Updates

For some reason I really felt like this was a month of survival. Perhaps next month will feel the same and many month to follow. I've been so tired with being pregnant that I often find myself laying down for a nap. The girls generally don't take naps on their own, but will if I am taking one. But it's often a trade off. If they take a nap during the day, they often don't go to bed until pretty late. It's one of those cycles that seem hard to break. But they sure are cute when they are asleep! (They are when they're awake too, most of the time)

One day I picked Carmen up from school and took the girls out for ice cream. Their favorite place is Dairy Queen. They were feeling pretty silly this day!

Aliza had her first field trip this week. Her class went to a greenhouse to learn about plants and growing. It was a yucky rainy day, so most of the trip was cut short. But the kids still had fun. I think Aliza loved that Mom got to come with her, and I loved getting to meet some of her new little friends.

David was out of town a bit this month, so we really looked forward to his phone calls. The girls love to talk with Daddy on the phone. Here Charlotte is deep in conversation with him.

*These are all phone pictures, because yes, I am one of those moms who has a really nice camera but hates to carry it around!

Aliza's first day of Pre-school

Today was Aliza's first day of preschool. I've been so worried all summer about how this day was going to play out. Especially when she threw up out of nervousness when we signed her up for day camp at Callaway Gardens. But we talked about it a lot and how the day would go, and she got to go meet her teacher last week, which I think really helped ease some of her butterflies. She is going to Northridge Preschool and her teacher is Mrs. Brickmeier and Miss Shifflett.

This morning she was so excited! She took a bath before school and as I was brushing her hair, she asked me if it looked perfect. I told her it did and then she replied that now she was definitely excited to start school. We took her to her classroom and helped her find her spot and got her settled and then left her there without any fears or tears. At least on her part, I was teary but tried desperately to hide it from her!

So excited to finally have her own school

She wanted desperately to have a "fist pump" picture like Carmen's, but couldn't quite nail it. You can still sense her excitement though!
When I picked her up, she was all smiles. She told me about her new friends she had made, a little craft they did, all about snack time and lunch time and said her favorite part was circle time. So when I asked if she liked preschool she said, "It was better than I thought it was going to be!!" I just love her. She has such an excitement for life and I love the way she describes things with such passion.
Aliza with her cute little friend Chloe, who is also in her class. And of course Charlotte had to be included as well.

The funny thing about Charlotte is, I think she really missed Aliza! No matter what I asked her what she wanted to do she just said no to it. Go to store? New shoes? Haircut? McDonalds? She didn't want to do any of that stuff. But if I asked her if she wanted to go pick up Aliza she nodded enthusiastically. It's good to know she loves her big sister!

Out of the Mouth of Babes

Kids says the funniest stuff! I'm going to start this post and keep adding to it with the funny things my kids say.

Charlotte:  Today Charlotte was sitting on my lap and pointing to my face. She kept saying "Sparkly" and I couldn't understand why she would say that. Then she pointed to Aliza and said, "Liza sparkly too!". I finally caught on that she was pointing to our freckles! I like to think of them as sparkles too!

Aliza: You aren't going to wear those shoes on a date are you?!?! (she is my little fashionista, who always keeps me in line!)

Carmen: The other night I putting Carmen to bed and we got on the topic of how your name changes when you get married. We talked about it for a few minutes and then she was really quiet. Then she says, "What's Jonas' last name?!". I couldn't help but get a little chuckle out of it. She really has a little crush on him and he probably couldn't care less about her! Once I told her his last name, she just got so giggly!

Aliza: I had been in the shower for what must have seemed like a really long time to Aliza. She came in and asked me if I was ever going to get out. I joked with her and told I was going to stay in there forever!  To which she quickly responded that I couldn't because how would she ever eat again. I had to roll my eyes and ask her if that was all I was good for. She said yes....

Carmen: It was Sunday morning and I was alone to get the girls ready for church. I had just spent a good 20 minutes brushing everyone's hair. By the time I was finishing with Carmen's, I made the comment that I was glad this next baby is a boy so it's less hair to brush. And Carmen said, "We could make it even fast if we made his hair like Daddy's, just cut a hole right on top!". (referring to his bald spot)
