We welcomed in the new year by heading down to Williamsburg's Great Wolf Lodge. This place was pretty fun. It has a large indoor water park, among other fun amenities. I admit to feeling a littler nervous about how much we were spending on this getaway. I knew our kids didn't totally love the last water park we visited. I was worried they would get burnt out or bored pretty fast, after all we were spending three days there. But we all agreed that we had a great time and would definitely come back again. The girls even picked coming back to GWL over a beach house or a cabin (which they are constantly asking to go back to).

The check in process was long, but the lobby was really fun to explore and kept us busy while David waited in line. This was the great clock tower, that comes to life each morning for a fun story time.
Dallin LOVED the water, whether he was splashing in it or nearly falling asleep to the rocking of the waves in the wave pool.
There was a fun interactive game, MagiQuest, throughout the entire lodge. It involved magic wands and trying to find all the hidden gold and treasures. With each level you passed you gained more power to fight off the evil dragon.... we didn't quite get the whole gist of the game but we sure had fun racing around between the four floors of the lodge completing each quest. They were especially excited about the wands because they have recently discovered the kids show "Wizards of Waverly Place".
We bought 3 wands, but only activated one of them to use with the game.... it made for some upset "Magi's"..... But after paying for the 3 wands, and then having to pay additional to activate them, we were only going to do one of them. Can you guess whose wand was activated? My advice, fork over the extra money to activate them all....
We stayed in the kids cabin room. The girls got to sleep in their own little cabin complete with bunk beds and their own TV. Our room was actually pretty large. Larger than your average hotel room.
The kids did pretty great sleeping in each morning. This morning we found these 3 snuggled into to Carmen's bed. And Charlotte is not jaundiced in this picture, she had just gotten her face painted the night before, a pretty yellow butterfly.
More MagiQuest pictures....
I didn't really get any pictures in the water park for obvious reasons, I wasn't going to carry my camera around the water to take pics. But we really did have fun in the water. And I felt like such a proud mother when on the 3rd day there, ALL three girls finally went down the big water slides!! Charlotte didn't need any convincing, she just jumped on those slides with no fear at all. Carmen took a little convincing and wasn't about to let her baby sister one up her, she finally tried them out and there was no turning back! And Aliza, after 3 days there finally mustered up the courage to try them out. She went down them 2 or 3 times and that was enough adventure for her. Most of all they loved the "cwazy ribber" as Charlotte called it, or the Lazy River as most people refer to it.
David and I both agreed that it was the perfect short getaway. Any more days there would have been too many and any less would not have been enough. We never felt bored and yet we never felt rushed. It was very slow paced yet entertaining. I'd love to go back in the summer when the outdoor pools are open. But I also really enjoyed that it was their slow season and we didn't have to wait in lines for anything.
