Coast of Maine Part IV

David brought his drone to play with and wanted to try to get pictures of us on the deck of our house. I was terrified the entire time that it was going to fall into the ocean. While a bit blurry he managed to get some fun ones of us. I love how you can see just how our house sat right on the waters edge.

This picture of Lily Pond was in the house and I admired it so much. I wish I could have found one to bring home with us.

Sunday we went to church which was an hour and a half away. It was neat to talk to people who live there and others who were also passing through like us. Then we spent the rest of the day home. It was a wonderfully lazy Sunday afternoon. The kids loves looking through the telescopes and binoculars at passing boats.

Dallin sat here for a while just taking it all in.

I love how you can see the water through this giant wall of windows.

We walked the path one last time down to our beach. Carmen could have spent all day everyday looking for sea glass.

And Dallin could watch the boats all day long. This one got close enough that he could talk to the fisherman.

We then said goodbye to our little beach and took the path back up to the house. Isn't that a dreamy path to walk?!

We made one last trip to Scott's landing and enjoyed the sunset here.

We did Cadilac Mountain "take two" hoping for no fog this time. We passed my favorite little meadow again and this time I convinced everyone to get out of the car to take more pictures.

There we are at the top again. And wow! What a view on this clear day. And so many fun rocks and landings to explore up there.

Finally, we had to say goodbye to Maine. On our way out of the state and back home, we stopped at one more lighthouse. Nubble Lighthouse was the ideal lighthouse that you imagine sitting on the rocky shore. This was as close as you could get to it though. While lighthouses aren't really needed anymore, most of them are still lived in by a keeper and their family.

This was a trip for the books! We loved every minute of Maine. Never bored or lacking for things to do. And now when we ask our kids what their favorite vacation has been, they all agree that it was Maine. (even over their TWO trips to Hawaii) I guess we'll be coming back here again.

Coast of Maine Part III

Another place the locals suggested was hunting for sea glass at Scott's Landing. Now, this place was hard to find, you wouldn't know it was there unless someone told you. But it was such a charming spot. We returned here several times too. You had to park and then walk about 1/2 mile along this gorgeous path that just made me feel like Anne of Green Gables. And then you arrived at the shore. We never saw any other people here, so it felt like our own little piece of Maine.

Now, when the locals told us to look for sea glass, we weren't really sure what we were looking for. We learned that it truly was like hunting for a needle in a haystack, but not impossible. We got better at finding these tiny treasures each time we returned to look.

So many tiny shells. The entire shore here was covered in these shells.

And here are our treasures from our first hunting excursion.

We headed back over to Acadia to visit the top of Cadillac Mountain. As we wound our way up the curvy road, we watched as the fog rolled in. We were certain our view would be hindered by the fog. And sure enough, at the top, we could barely a few yards in front of us. Having never been there, and not really knowing what we were missing, we still found it pretty cool!

It was so damp from the fog that my hair even had water droplets.

After abandoning our hopes of good views we descended back down and took the loop road around the park. And oh boy was it so beautiful. Every turn we made I kept saying it was the more gorgeous place I'd ever seen. And then we'd make another turn... the beauty was endless. And our conversations about moving to Maine became more and more frequent. Until we thought about the snow and then we decided on maybe just having a summer house there. ;) But just how gorgeous these meadows are.

We stopped at Sand Beach, which had the coldest water I've ever felt! And some people were out swimming in it. They're nuts!

I just love the green and the rocks and the water. I seriously could vacation here every summer.
