The Second Coming?

Today we were at the park playing when a guy pointed to the sky and said " do you see that?" We all looked up to see the sun had a rainbow halo around it. It was very beautiful and like something we had never seen before. We were all scrambling to get pictures of it with our camera phones...it's all we had. One friend thought for sure it was the Second Coming and Christ was going to appear in the center of the rainbow. I wasn't so sure (I hope when it really does happen I will be more sure!) We left the park and I rushed home to get my real camera to capture some pictures. I was able to get some pretty cool ones. I also Googled it and found out it was pretty common and just means "high rain clouds". So, it wasn't The Second Coming afterall, but it sure was beautiful!

Twist and Shout

On Friday our ward had a Sock Hop. The week before my neighbor, Danelle and I decided it would be fun to make our own poodle skirts. After a lot of trial and error, we came up with some really cute skirts - thanks to Danelle!!!! I discovered I have no sewing talents and will stick to the digital world of creativity. The sock hop was a lot of fun and Carmen and Aliza danced all over the gym floor. David and I did a little Karaoke to "Summer Nights" from Grease. We finished the night off with root beer floats. It was such a fun time! These pictures are really bad quality, but you get the idea.

The Playset construction...

Yesterday, David and some friends began construction on our new playset for our backyard. I got the Costco playground for Mother's day. It's just what I always wanted. :) Thanks to some wonderful friends from church for helping us!!! Here's the progression of how things went...
8:30 - Go to Home Depot to buy tools

9:00 -

10:30 -

2:00 -

It's a very tedious job and the boys got a lot done, but there is still at least one day, maybe two days, of work left. There is still a roof and walls to add to the top and a sandbox on the bottom. Then there is the section with the swings left to build. We sure hope the girls love it and play on it a lot! It's my hope that I'll be able to send them to the backyard and they will actually play there! And I'll be able to get my own things done, without little kids under toe.

My Girls

This is one of very few pictures I have of both girls where Carmen is not attacking Aliza. I don't know why, but they can't seem to take a picture together! So, this day they were cuddled on the couch together having a snack. I just had to snap some pictures of them being nice with each other. I just love my girls so much! What a blessing they are to me.

Happy Mother's Day

We hope all you mom's had a great mother's day! Mine sure turned out great. David made me breakfast in bed after letting me sleep in until 9:00!!! I could not believe I slept that late. Then he took care of the girls during church. We had David's mom, Sandy, over for dinner that David made for us. He got me a swing set for our backyard. I've wanted one ever since the yard was finished. Hopefully, I'll be able to send the girls out to play and I can get some things done inside ("me time" is what David calls it....) Now, we just have to get it put together. :{}

DISNEYLAND FUN!!!!!!!

We are home from our adventurous trip to Disneyland. We had such a fun few days there. The weather could not have been better and the lines could not have been shorter (except for the Cinderella line that we stood in for almost 2 hrs. and still didn't get to hug her! We got Pocahontas instead...bummer). David was really there for business more than pleasure, so we got to spend one full day with him and the rest of the time me and the girls were on our own. That made for some REAL fun! I will post some pictures as soon as they are done downloading onto the computer. If you can spot the one of Aliza WITHOUT her pink bunny, than you are the winner! There are only a few where she didn't have her bunny in the picture, but that doesn't mean it was far from her. She carried that thing everywhere and didn't let go of it the whole time! Needless to say, it was filthy. We even lost it, but had two backups just in case! The first picture of the girls was the morning we woke up to go to the park. The excitement level was through the roof. The girls kept looking out the window to see Cinderella's castle. Here's a link to the rest of our pictures. If you want to see the rest of our pictures click on my photo link.

Cinderella's Castle

This week we are headed to Disneyland! Carmen is so excited to go back to "Cinderella's castle" as she calls. I didn't want anyone to think I was slacking on posting on the blog - we'll be gone all week. Update to come soon!

Kayaks----Do they float?

The YM in our ward have been working 3 days a week on building their own Kayaks. In June we plan on taking them down the Russian river for three days. We still don't know if the Kayaks float....We will find out in June.

One of the pictures is with the kayak unfolded and one is folded. We are building 12 of them....

It has been a fun adventure to watch these YM work on these Kayaks and get the feeling of accomplishment. Thanks to April for being patient and letting me spend my spare time helping the YM.

Stay tuned to see if they float...

Big Girl Bike

Daddy found Carmen a big girl bike at a garage sale last week. She's been scared to get on it, until today. She got on and never stopped going.

Can I really do this?

I don't know how many times I've created a blog and never got past the initial post. I think I can, I think I can...you have permission to keep hounding me to update my blog.
