Turning 12 is a huge milestone in our family. Not only do you graduate from Primary and enter the youth program at church, but you also can get your ears pierced and start wearing makeup. Charlotte and David were gone to conference in Utah, so we celebrated without them. First thing that morning, we went straight to the mall to get her ears pierced. I didn't realize how expensive that was going to be!! But Carmen was a champ and didn't even flinch!

Then we made a quick trip to Sams and then to the movies with some friends. We saw the new Beauty and the Beast. It was fantastic!
The big gift she asked for was a Kindle, and once she opened all her presents, she seemed a little disappointed that there wasn't one among the gifts. But as she starting looking at the Camel Pack I'd gotten her for Girls Camp, she realized something was hiding inside...her kindle!!
Cheesecake is always her birthday cake of choice.
For her friend party this year, David was in charge of the execution, and BOY HOWDAY did he go all out. He hired a few young men or organize a Kayaking Day Trip for Carmen and 5 of her friends. It turned into quite the adventure and I think everyone had an amazing time!! I was so sad I couldn't come because I was busy with girls camp planning. But it was fun to hear all the girls so excitedly tell me about their day. The parent chaperones even had a great time. It will sure be hard to top this one!
