DC Field Trip with Carmen

Only days after starting at her new school, Carmen's class went on the coveted 5th grade trip to DC. I was fortunate enough to get to go with her, and I was so glad I did! We got the ride the train up there, which was a new experience in itself. We visited the Natural History Museum.

Neither one of us was all that impressed with the museum... the most exciting thing we saw was the Hope Diamond.  But just spending the whole day with Carmen was such a treat for me. She still didn't really know anyone from her new school and I certainly only knew her! I was glad I got to go, so she didn't feel left out all day.
We both really enjoyed this photography exhibit. Carmen took in and studied every single photo.

I've always wanted to visit DC during the blooming of the cherry blossom trees, so this was very exciting to be there during that time. This one picture simply doesn't do it justice, those trees were gorgeous!!
It was a quick visit before we had to head back to the train station to head home. I think the train ride was our favorite part, and the Cherry Blossom Trees, of course!
