End of Summer/Start of School

After much traveling this the past few weeks, it was time to settle back down into our school routine. Right after getting home from the beach, Carmen went straight to marching band practice for Western Albemarle High School.

And it was HOT - heat index of 109

Back to School night happened. Charlotte met her 5th grade teacher, Mrs. Guevara.
Dallin didn't get to meet his because she will be out for the first few months on maternity leave, but he's still excited about 2nd grade with Mrs. Robinson.
Carmen has decided to try out for Crew. While she was trying out, I hung around and enjoyed the gorgeousness of the day! The water reflected the sky so perfectly on Beaver Creek it was hard to tell which way up or down.

We soaked up the last few days of summer by swimming a lot. Poppy is doing work for a family that has an amazing "vacation home" in Waynesboro. We took full advantage of their pool!

Then the inevitable happened. The first day rolled around and everyone was up bright and early with a smile on their faces.

...except for maybe Carmen, who isn't thrilled about starting high school.

Then I got this post from Carmen during the day that I thought was so funny!

That night there was a back to school swim party at the Mendenhall's.

And I think Koda enjoyed the peace and quiet while the kids were gone!
