While David and Carmen were gone on Trek, we decided to do some of our own exploring! I've always wanted to see the sunset at Raven's Roost along the Blue Ridge Parkway. We loaded the car and drove up to catch the sunset just in the nick of time. Now, this is naturally already a beautiful vista, but with the sunset, it become magical.
And we are always sure to take advantage of free Slurpees on 7/11 Day!
A fun craft to pass the long summer days.
And a game of Mini Golf.
David was the Trail Boss for Trek this year and spent months and months planning it. While they had a few hiccups, I think it was a success! They were gone on the hottest days of the whole summer and many suffered from the heat. I wasn't there, so I couldn't tell you all the details, but here are some pictures from the 3 days.
This was Carmen's family.
David with the other two trail bosses, Amy Carlson and Mike Swinson.
I arrived in time to welcome them to "Zion"
And this was the only picture she would let me take afterwards.
After Trek was over, I drove David straight to a hotel for him to shower and then dropped him off at the airport. He was headed to Europe for a week of school. He was exhausted and slept the entire flight over there. We met up with him a week later in Paris for an epic 2 week Bean adventure!
